Yep, when someone terrorizes you due to their own incompetence and they have the legal authority to kill you and your entire family with consequences (if any) to happen later, best put a smile on your face and say, “THANK YOU SIR! Can I have another?!” Read more

You forgot the most expensive part though. The obsession that may develop from your $500 boat. Much like cars, motorcycles, planes, and any other hobby, soon after boring yourself with the Sunfish you’ll find yourself lusting after a Laser II, which is a semi-reasonable $2,500. But then you’ll want Challenge Sailcloth Read more

Just modernize this bad boy on the inside and you’re good.

Also, as long as you keep it in good condition you can usually sell them for what you paid for them. When COVID restrictions cancelled my kids’ summer sailing camp plans, I took less than half the money I’d have spent on those camps and bought a catamaran. Now that we’re past that and they can use a variety of boats Read more

I don’t know a lot about sailing, or boats in general. But I was shocked to find out how reasonably priced a decent sailboat was. I don’t blame you for sending out your tank to be cleaned. The only tank you can clean out at home are motorcycle tanks that you can just load up with bolts and nuts and shake all over. Anything larger than a motorcycle tank is impossible to do that with. Read more

Does this count??? (at least it’s a $0 option)

As much as I hate that AM radio seems to be filled with a bunch of right-wing propaganda or religious zealots yelling at me, I believe that AM radio still is a great opportunity for community radio stations in non-metropolitan areas. I’d always hoped that AM radio would become cheap enough to support this kind of Read more

You’ve got this. As someone who built a car from the ground up, it seems like a lot of work right up till thing start coming together. And think of it this way, you’re kind of building a hot rod. Hot rodders have been mixing and matching parts forever. For example, the car I built has late 40s Lincoln drum brakes on Read more
